In this groundwork class we will be going over the basics of how horses communicate. Horses do not speak with words but through body language and using energy to apply pressure. This class provides an opportunity for you to practice applying pressure (communicating) respectfully and in a way that your horse understands. Just like humans, each horse has a unique personality. As a result, each horse requires different amounts of pressure to communicate effectively.
This class is personalized for your specific needs. We will start by setting intentions of what specific things you would like to work on regarding horsemanship and focus on those things during the class. We will work through specific struggles you may be having as you interact with horses and bring awareness to what you have agency over regarding horsemanship. *It is required to take our horsemanship class on how to communicate effectively before signing up for this class.
Horses are prey animals who live in herds. They are always searching for connection or guidance to make them feel safe. In this class we look at how to build that connection with a horse by spending time with them at liberty in the round pen. We will talk about how horses communicate with each other to better understand how we can ask for what we want/need in our relationship with them.

This hour-long lecture goes over the basics of what horses eat. In this class, we will go over different kinds of horse feed and why it is important to know your horse's specific dietary needs. I will share what my horses get fed and will show you what supplements I use and why.
This hour-long lecture goes over the necessity of proper farrier and vet care. It includes what upkeep is necessary for healthy horses, and which alarming behaviors to be watching out for.

This hour-long lecture covers the basics of healthy horse exercise. Different horses in various environments will need different amounts of exercise. However, there are certain stretches, and exercises that are beneficial for all horses. This class will show a hands-on demonstration of different activities to do with your horses to help maintain their agility.

Then following a hands-on presentation, we will have time for Q&A. The topics we will cover are: Feeding, Farrier/Vet Care, and Horse Exercise.
